In today's fast paced world even our entertainment choices hardly give us that peaceful and carefree feeling we may remember from our childhood. Like the time we went fishing at the creek with friends. Or when we’d go pond hoping in the country, fishing for the big bass.
When you go visit Lucky at the Duck Camp Fishing Retreat at Elmdale Lake, it's like stepping back in to the past. From the rustic look of the place to Lucky's Southern hospitality, it's an experience reminiscent of life with Andy, Opie and aunt Bee.
You may find guy's sitting around the table in the Cook Shack, playing a game of Dominos and telling stories that will give you goose bumps, while Lucky insists on feeding you a bit of his famous corn bread and beans. It's easy to lose track of time when you're down at the Duck Camp and it's just what the doctor ordered to relieve some of that built-up stress. Take a break , sit in the shade of the weeping willow trees, and spend a few hours getting away from it all. Or rent a cabin and stay a night or two. With Duck Camp close to the Northwest Arkansas Metro Area, you can escape anytime you feel the need. Interstate 49 is only two miles away.
Duck Camp Fishing Retreat is open from April through October. You can either fish from the dock, walkway, shoreline, or off of the covered pontoon boat. You nay like to rent a boat out and fish on the 200 acre lake. There are plenty of fish to be caught. The AGFC stocks Lake Elmdale with Crappie, Bluegill, and Red ear, Large Mouth Bass, along with Flathead, Channel, and Blue Catfish. But if they're just not biting for you, ask Lucky to check your pole, and he will rig it for you, and point out the best spots, to change your luck. Everybody at the Duck Camp is always eager to give you a pointer or two and if you don't see Lucky around, just holler out, he’s never far away.
